Red Wine D.O. Ribera del Duero Pago de Carraovejas

This elegant and savoury red wine from the Ribera del Duero region shows extraordinarily intense black fruit flavours, subtle hints of smokiness, and a long mouth watering finish. A very fine wine at its best matched with fine food. The savoury characters would make this a good partner for beef Wellington.

The creation of this wine takes place in a gravity fed system, where the grapes gently ‘fall’ from one stage to another, under gravity only. This means fruit handling is at a minimum, allowing the final wine to have a clean, pure expression. It is whole berry fermented, which means that the grapes are not mechanically crushed but allowed to split gently under the force of their own weight.

Purple in color, it gives up an expressive nose of wood smoke, violets, espresso, mineral, and assorted black fruits. Full-bodied, dense, and savory on the palate, this medium-long effort will fill out for another 2-3 years and offer a drinking window extending from 2014 to 2022."
